FORECO Daily: Roan Highlands

IMG_2841

Jay Leutze and Julie Tuttle near the Round Bald summit. Jay told our class the story of conservation of the Roan Highlands, pointing out forested peaks, wild places that have been protected by the US Forest Service, the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, the Nature Conservancy, and private philanthropists. Conservation partnerships and bills like the Land and Water Conservation Fund work together to advocate for wild places that belong to us all.

  1. Hi Steph. I’m really enjoying these posts, and would love to join the class next time. That’s in two years?
Say hi to Julie for me. She taught the Conservation Biology class at the NC Botanical Gardens recently, and I was lucky enough to be in it.
