Exploring Southern Appalachian Forests

I’m excited to share that the book I co-authored with Tom Wentworth is out! Exploring Southern Appalachian Forests: An Ecological Guide to 30 Great Hikes in the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia. It is published by UNC Press and can be ordered through the above link or Amazon.com!

You can read an interview with both of us here. It may seem a bit high-falutin’, but you will quickly see that it’s really just me, talking about seeing the forest with the trees–plus running, pie, and my kids.

We have several events in the region to talk about our book. Here’s a link to a listing, which is updated frequently. Please contact me if you would like us to do an event!

  1. Hello Steph –
It was nice meeting you and hearing about your book at Scuppernong Books in Greensboro. Sunday afternoon. I had to rush out for a visit with my 98 yr old grandmother, otherwise I would have enjoyed the conversation after your talk. I plan to purchase your book and use it before the end of the year. I’m excited for the reference!

Going to look for you (and the book) now on Facebook! 🙂

    • Thank you for coming, Angie! Wish I’d had a chance to chat with you more and sign your book. Now is the perfect time to get out to the mountains for a hike! Hope you can use our book to find some beautiful new hikes, or to see old favorites in an entirely new way.
